Those hills were steeper than I thought!

Nine months without an update, that sounds like I need to make a New Years resolution to update this blog more frequently!

Even though I haven’t been updating my  blog, I have been writing off and  on, and I’m now in a position to announce the next article in my Fedora Music series: Professional audio with Fedora, Part Two: External Devices and Sound Sources.

I’m now working on part three which will cover composing using the Rosegarden Sequencer and some of the sound sources covered in part two.  As ever, feedback is welcome.

The hills are alive…

A while back, well almost a year ago, I wrote an article on how to get started using Fedora, JACK, and ZynAddSubFX, to produce professional quality audio using only Free Software. The article was noticed by someone from Red Hat Magazine and eventually published in February 2007. Originally I had planned this article to be the first in a series, subsequent articles were to cover Rosegarden and Ardour, but somehow I never got round to writing them.

Good news! I’ve re-found my interest in creating audio with my Fedora workstation and as such I put an updated version of the article on the Passback Website. I’ve also started working on a follow up article covering external MIDI devices and a review of various software synthesisers. I’ll announce it here when it is ready.
